We start in Libya where floods are reported to have killed 2,000 people after a powerful storm swept through the east of the country.

리비아 소식 시작하겠습니다. 리비아 동부를 휩쓸고 지나간 강력한 폭풍으로 인해 사망자 수가 약 2,000명에 이른 것으로 보고되고 있습니다.

Widespread flooding and mudslides caused by torrential rain destroyed many roads and homes.

폭우로 인해 발생한 광범위한 홍수와 산사태로 인해 다수의 도로와 주택이 파괴되었습니다.

Thousands of people are still missing.

수천 명의 사람들은 아직 실종 상태입니다.

The eastern cities of Benghazi, Derna and Almari are among the worst hit.

Much of the country has been declared a disaster zone and three days of mourning have begun.

Actually, the latest numbers of the fatalities of storm ‘Daniel’ floods, especially in Derna, Al baydaa, Jabal al Akhdar areas in eastern Libya have actually been reported at 2,800 people dead and around 10,000 reported missing.

사실은, 폭풍 '다니엘'로 인한 홍수의 사망자 수가 최근에 보고된 바에 따르면, 특히 리비아 동부의 Derna, Al baydaa, Jabal al Akhdar 지역에서 사망자 수는 실제로 약 2,800명으로 보고되었으며, 약 10,000명의 실종자도 보고되고 있습니다.

And of course, the 2800 are only registered in Derna City, which is seeing the most appalling impact of the storm, actually, because the floods washed away entire neighborhoods and the coastal city.

Libya is a divided country with competing power bases.

Actually, the split between East and West is making the response and the relief work is slow down and making it a bit sluggish

actually because until this morning now before I speak to you, reports from Derna are saying that there are no rescue teams that have arrived from local cities, from Tripoli in the west or other cities to Derna, to the rescue of the people.

And this is actually because of the lack of coordination between East and West and because there are two vying governments in Libya.

Actually that made the number of fatalities go up because two dams are located in the city of Derna, Derna valley area.

And, of course, these two dams, when they collapsed, they actually made the disaster worse for the neighborhoods that are located on either side of the area on the Derna Valley.

And the most actually the numbers that are coming from that area are the most in terms of fatalities and missing persons.

Entire families are missing and people are starting to look for help from inside and outside Libya.

And of course, we are waiting for relief response from international community. It hasn't arrived yet.

And just briefly, to what degree can the authorities, the local authorities, cope?

Actually, local authorities are not going to be efficient and quick response to this disaster.
